Is there a way that teachers can have information that would tell us if a student was an online students from last year? You suggested being intentional about keeping our eyes on these students but we don't have that data.

01:03:53
The trauma you speak of is tied to the base needs as defined by Maslow. It is my understanding that until those needs are met the being has no possible way to move up the ladder i.e engage in meaningful learning in school. To wit, what I may do in my room in school can all be torn down when that student walks through his or her door at home.

01:05:30
That is a good point. We should be able to create those lists from PowerSchool. I'll check on it.

01:07:26
Research shows that the hierarchy is not as rigid as it was initially presented. Can I share this question with the group and get an answer from Eve.

01:10:19
Is the power point presentation on the google drive? Some slides are a bit blurry.

01:11:42
Correct with the fluidity; however, a child will remain "stunted" if those base needs (the ones aligned with the trauma list shared) are not addressed and resolved. There is research that supports this! Yes, you can forward this.

01:12:24
It will be, I didn't have the most updated copy to drop in the drive prior to the training. I will try to get it in now.

01:13:58
I think that this presentation is very important to staff. I also think it is important for students to be made aware that students come from different home bases. Is there a video or resource that we can share with students to trigger empathy within for those who do not experience some of these traumatic events? Maybe a public service announcement video that is safe to share?

This has been my experience in two districts over 22 years of teaching. I understand the right of privacy, but what I am seeing today is an extensive BACKDOOR that still does not address the exact story of the child!!!
